Domain expiration is a crucial process to understand when managing domains, and staying on top of upcoming expirations is just as important to ensure your great domains don't return to the open market.

While we currently provide many email notifications about upcoming domain expirations, we’re making some adjustments to help our customers keep track of the upcoming important dates. Below, you'll find the details outlining these changes.

Email Notification Changes

As of May 8th at 12:00 A.M. PST, Dynadot customers will, by default, receive individual emails notifying them of upcoming expiration dates which'll be sent on a per-domain basis. Previously, our expiration notifications grouped expiring domains together in one email, which occasionally made it challenging for users to monitor specific domains expiring if they had a larger portfolio.

With this new change, the expiration notification email will only include individual domain names which will be displayed in the email subject line, making it easy for customers to stay on top of expirations at a glance. With this update, we're also reducing the frequency of expiration emails sent.

Email Frequency Adjustments

The emails will now be sent at the following intervals during the expirations process for each individual domain:

  • 30 days prior to expiration
  • 7 days prior to expiration
  • The day the domain expires
  • The day before the domain is deleted
  • The day it gets deleted and removed from your account

This will provide you with ample time to decide if you want to proceed with the renewal process for each of these individual domains.

Prefer Bundled Notification Emails?

If you prefer having your expiration notification emails grouping expiring domains together, we'll still allow you to select that option. This will combine all upcoming expired domain notifications into one single email.

To enable this, you can select "My Info" in your Dynadot control panel, followed by selecting "Notifications". Find the "Expiration Emails" section and select the "Expiration Digest" option. Once selected, save your changes and you'll receive grouped expiration emails. Please note: the email frequency adjustments mentioned above still apply to these grouped emails as well.
