The central registries for COM, NET, ORG, INFO, and BIZ are raising prices this month. Because our margins are so low, we are forced to raise prices as well.
Starting midnight Oct 15 EST, the price of COM, NET, ORG, INFO, and BIZ domains is going from $7.99 to $8.99. To save money, we recommend you renew your domains at the current price before Oct 15.
We work hard to keep prices low. This is our first price increase since we went into business in 2002.

it's first time from 2003 I am really furious with Dynadot.
Margins for domains at hosting companies are low too. There is no chance to do something (inform customers, send new invoices etc.) when you inform us two weekend days before changes. And information about bulk prices still missing :(

Everything goes up eventually and fair enough. Question is - WHERE IS THE PARKING REVENUE MONEY FOR THE LAST 2 MONTHS??????????????????????????????

Here are the new bulk prices:
COM $7.50 Oct 15, 00:00 EST
NET $5.75 Oct 15, 00:00 EST
ORG $7.25 Oct 18, 00:00 UTC
INFO $7.25 Oct 15, 00:00 UTC
BIZ $7.50 Oct 19, 00:00 UTC
We are increasing prices by $1.00, even though the Verisign price increase is $0.42. The reason is that all our costs have gone up over the past 5 years.
For example, when we originally set the $7.99 price in 2002, there was no $0.20 ICANN fee per domain.
Visa and Mastercard raised interchange rates in 2006, increasing payment transaction costs.
Our hosting fees have increased.
Insurance costs for our employees have risen about 10% a year.
The list goes on.

Now what would be nice is that DynaDot paid the revenue money for the last 2 month so we could renew domains at the old price seeing it is the only way we can use these funds.

Hang on - I just realised something. The ICANN price increase is effective from 00.00 hours on the morning of the 18th not the 15th as per DynaDot's notice. No begrudges the increase (If they do well............) but make from when the cost hits you not before.
I cant speak for anyone else but I feel like a i am being manipulated. I don't have a problem with price increases..
I have a BIG issue with receiving 2 DAYS notice!!..
Add the failed parking revenue issues, a pretty basic API and the endless ' it will be ready in a few months' line and it starts to take the shine of any relationship with Dynadot..
I'm already in a lifeboat looking for a new ship to sail into the sunset with..
Certainly no reason to complain about the prices, but I certainly am complaining about the sudden change in price increase date.
I was planning transfers in around a Oct 21 price increase (as per your previous forum post) and then suddenly I get an email and I have 2 days to react!
when you have 1000 names it can get expensive dude
also verisign can raise it 7% 3 times the next 5 years. They used 1 of their raises do they have 2 more!
Do the math, it will only get more expensive within the next few years.

If you really have 1000 Domains then you qualify for bulk pricing ;)
Dunno what's up with people moaning about 1$ increase - this shouldn't be much at all - how many domains do those moaning guys have ? IF they are domainers then they are eligable for 7.50$ bulk prices and if they are not domainers then they have too small amount of domains to complain about 1$ increase
Look at all other registrars prices - they even increased
Godaddy (with their crappy control panel) 9.99$
Namecheap : 9.29$
Dynadot 8.99$
This is math that I was taught in school and it says Dynadot is still cheaper. *Period*

thats only if you are a member on a few specific message boards.....
plus if you are a dynadot bulk customer the pricing isn't bad.

Not in this case.
Verisign had no technical or financial reason for a price increase. Their costs, like most computer-related costs, are going down all the time. They raised prices because they knew ICANN would let them, and the other Registries followed suit.
ICANN needs to put the .com registry management out to tender. Tucows has already publicly offered to run it for $2 a name.
This is all to do with the failure of ICANN to protect us Registrants. THey don't protect us because we have no vote. WE pay the ICANN tax, the Registrar's collect it for them from us and pass it on, but we have no representation at ICANN. This needs to change.
This thread isnt' about Verisign, ICANN, or Tucows. It's about Dynadot being forced to raise their prices. They do deserve the extra money, but as for Verisign, that would be a topic for a new thread IMO.
