Hi, if I were to register a domain name on behalf of a client for their project, is it possible to then transfer ownership to them at a later date, if so, are there any fees associated with this?

yes sure you can change ownership (https://www.dynadot.com/community/help/question/change-ownership) , and it's free :)

Yes, as @clover mentioned, you can submit a domain push order later if you're moving the domain to a different Dynadot account.
