To set your name servers, please follow these steps: Sign in to your Dynadot account. Select "My Domains" from the left-side menu bar and click "Manage Domains" in the drop-down. Check the box next to your domain name(s) and click on the "Action" button. Choose "DNS Settings" from the "Action" list. On the DNS page, select the "Name Servers" setting from the top drop-down menu. There are two ways to set name servers: - If you are adding new name servers, select "Enter new or existing Name Servers" from your list of choices and enter your new name servers in the provided fields. - If you are using existing name servers, move down to the "Select from your Name Servers" option and choose the name servers from your existing list. Press the "Save Name Server" button to save your changes. Please be aware that it might take some time for your name server changes to propagate.Alternatively, you can also set your Name Servers when transferring your domain. To do so, while your item is in the cart, please click on the hardware icon. It will prompt you through a short two step wizard and guide you through the set up process. A name server is a server that returns an IP address when given a domain name. This IP address is basically the domain's location on the Internet.Sometimes name servers are referred as DNS servers (and vice versa) because they essentially perform the same function; when given a domain name, they return the IP address for that domain.The difference is that with DNS, the domain owner will be setting the IP addresses to your domain and your mail server(s). For domains registered at Dynadot, you will be using the Dynadot servers, however, you will be setting up the IP addresses within your Dynadot account. To use the Domain Name System Security Extensions (DNSSEC), please follow these steps: Sign in to your Dynadot account. Set your name servers. After setting your name servers, select "My Domains" then "Manage Domains" from the left-side menu bar. Under the domain name column, click on your domain name (which should be a link). This will load your domain's setting page. Find the "DNSSEC" section. (You may need to scroll down). It should indicate "Not Set." Now click on the "Change" button in blue font. To add a new DNSSEC record, select the top section, "Set a DNSSEC Record". Enter your DNSSEC values in the provided text boxes, then click the "Set DNSSEC Record" button to save your changes. If you already have existing DNSSEC record(s) for another domain and would like to re-use them, select the bottom section, "Use existing DNSSEC Records". Choose the DNSSEC record from the drop-down menu (you can choose up to 3 different DNSSEC records), then click the "Set DNSSEC Records" button to save your changes. NOTE: Dynadot's name servers for services such as domain forwarding, parking, custom DNS, and Email are NOT configured for DNSSEC.
Glue records associate a hostname with an IP address. They are needed when you want to set your domain's name servers to a hostname that is a subdomain of your domain.To create your own name servers for a domain registered at Dynadot, please follow these steps: Sign in to your Dynadot account. Select "My Domains" from the left-side menu bar and click "Name Servers" in the drop-down. Click on the "Register Name Server" button in the top right corner of the page. Enter the host name (ns1.mydomain.com, for example) in the text box labeled "Host Name". Enter the IP address for the name server in the text box labeled "IP Address". Press the "Register Name Server" button to save your changes. You can submit either an IPv4 or IPv6 IP address (except .WS domains, which do not support IPv6 addresses). You can also set multiple IP addresses. Please remember to configure your name servers with the corresponding A records. This would be done in your hosting control panel rather than your Dynadot account.Your settings should look similar to what is shown below: NOTE: Custom domain name servers (glue records) can only be registered at Dynadot if the domain is registered here. If you are trying to register a name server for ns1.mydomain.com, for example, and mydomain.com is registered with a third party, you would not be able to create glue records with Dynadot.
Default name servers will automatically set new domain registrations to the name servers of your choosing. To set your default name server settings, please follow these steps: Sign in to your Dynadot account. Select "My Domains" from the left-side menu bar and click "Domain Defaults" in the drop-down. Select the "Name Servers" option. In the "DNS Setting" section, select "Name Servers" from the drop-down menu. Enter or Select the default name server settings you wish to set for any future domains you register with us. Press the "Save" button at the top right of the page to save your changes. Now any new domain registrations will be set to your default name server settings. Your settings should look similar to what is shown below: Please be aware that it might take some time for your name server changes to propagate. Notes: Transferred domains keep their current name servers as they enter your account, and will not be affected by these settings unless the option "Apply to transferred domains" is checked. Custom DNS settings do not carry over when a domain is moved between Dynadot accounts, and will not be affected by these settings unless the option "Apply to receiving Push domains" is checked. To edit your custom name servers for a domain registered by Dynadot, please follow these steps: Sign in to your Dynadot account. Select "My Domains" from the left-side menu bar and click "Name Servers" in the drop-down. Click on the name server you wish to edit. It should be a blue link. Enter the new IP address in the provided form. Press the "Submit" button to save your changes. You can submit either an IPv4 or IPv6 IP address. You can also set multiple IP addresses. Please also remember to configure your name servers with the corresponding "A" record on your hosting side. NOTE: The .WS Registry does not support IPv6 addresses.
To set multiple IP addresses for a registered name server, please follow these steps: Sign in to your Dynadot account. Select "My Domains" from the left-side menu bar and click "Name Servers" in the drop-down. Click on the name server you want to edit. It should be a link. Enter the additional IP addresses for the name server in the text boxes provided, 1 per text box. Press the "Submit" button to save your changes. NOTE: You can submit either IPv4 or IPv6 IP addresses. However, not for .WS since the central registry does not support IPv6 addresses.Your settings should look similar to what is shown below:
To delete unused name servers, please follow these steps: Sign in to your Dynadot account. Select "My Domains" from the left-side menu bar and click "Name Servers" in the drop-down. Here you will see an alphabetical list of all of your name servers, including past name servers no longer being used as well as name servers currently in use. Name servers that are currently being used cannot be deleted for obvious reasons. If you want to delete a name server that you're currently using, you will need to adjust the name server settings for your domain first. Click the "Show" link to see which domains are using that name server setting. Name servers that are not currently in use will have a clickable check box next to them. Check the box or boxes next to the name servers you want to delete. Click the "Delete" button to remove them from your list.
RoTLD, the central registry for .RO domains, accepts name servers with endings other than .RO, however, they require the name servers to be declared before they can be set to your domain. You must declare your name servers on the registry's website here: https://www.rotld.ro/domadmin/ After the declaration, you can set the name servers to your domain in your Dynadot account.

Once the transfer has been added to your cart, click on the server icon, located to the right of the contact book icon. From here, you can choose to either setup DNS settings, name servers, or your default DNS/NS settings. Depending on your choice, you can find the steps below: Keep Name Servers from previous registrar's servers: You can decide to keep the name servers that were set up for your domain before the transfer. Use Name Servers from accounts Domain Defaults: You can use Name Servers that were set as your default Name Servers. Enter New Name Servers: There are two ways to set name servers: If you're adding new name servers or existing name servers, select "Enter new or existing Name Servers" from your list of choices and enter your new name servers in the provided fields. You can also choose to use your Name Server template. To do so, select "Select from your Name Servers", and choose the template that you would like to use. You can set up your templates here. Enter New DNS Settings Choose the "Record Type" you want to use from the drop-down menu, then enter the IP Address or Target Host of your web server in the text box. You can also specify subdomain records in the "Subdomain Records (optional)" section the same way you do to the "Domain Record (optional)". NOTE: If you have been instructed to add an "@", this simply means that the record should be entered under the "Domain Record (optional)" section. Do not enter the '@' symbol itself.
